My Home Town

My hometown is Anuradhapura. It is a very beautiful city. It is a city that is loved and attracted by local and foreign tourists alike. This is a place of worship and is full of places of worship such as Ruwanweliseya, Sri Maha Bodhi and Samadhi Statue.

The city is home to many shrines as well as large lakes such as Nuwara Wewa and Tissawewa which were created by ancient kings. July is a very special time for our city. Due to the commencement of the Poson season which commemorates the ascension of Mihindu Thera. Anuradhapura is completely transformed into a festival.

Anuradhapura Sacred City is full of devotees. It is also known as the largest city in Sri Lanka with its beautiful Reservoir anicuts.
